What is a Sadhana and why follow it?
Sadhana is a Sanskrit term which translates to "most effective means to attain your goal".
We commit to a Sadhana to cultivate and experience personal growth in all aspects of our lives, but ultimately focusing on the transcendental aspect to our existence: our Soul. A Sadhana is like a personal practice that includes the following elements:
-specific set of practices
-commit to a daily time for practice
-commit to a set minimum time for daily practice
Example for a beginner :
For the following 21 days, I will commit to the following Sadhana, for the betterment
of my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual body:
I will wake up at 6AM, brush my teeth and wash my face. Next I will drink 1 glass of lemon water.
I will follow with 10 minutes of breath awareness meditation and 5 minutes of journaling.
Example for an experienced practitioner:
For the following 90 days, I will commit to the following Sadhana, for the betterment of the 5 Koshas,
and for Spiritual Advancement: I will wake up at 4am, mentally recite a gratitude prayer.
Next I will brush my teeth and wash my face. I will follow with 1 hour of Atma Kriya Yoga Meditation,
20 minutes of Spiritual Reading and Contemplation,
40 minutes of Asana and Pranayama.
Today is the best day to begin.
